Every toner promises hydration — but what does “deep” hydration actually mean, and can it be measured? We had our Supple Preparation Unscented Toner studied to find out.
- ✓Hydration through the top 20 skin layers — improved after 1 use (p<0.05)
- ✓Skin texture — improved
- ✓Soothes skin after physical, heat & UV stimulation
- ✓Non-comedogenic & sensitive-skin tested
Cosmetic measures of the skin’s appearance and feel; individual results vary.
What we looked at
In a clinical study conducted at P&K Skin Research Center, led by a university-hospital dermatologist, skin hydration was measured through the upper 20 layers of the stratum corneum (the outermost skin) — before and after a single use — along with skin texture and how skin responded after external (physical, heat and UV) stimulation.
What the study found
- After a single use, hydration through the upper 20 layers of the stratum corneum significantly improved, and skin texture improved as well (p<0.05).
- The toner was measured to help soothe skin after physical, heat and UV stimulation.
- It is also non-comedogenic tested and tested for skin tolerance, including on sensitive skin.
Why a simple, unscented formula
Supple Preparation Unscented Toner keeps it deliberately simple: hyaluronic acid and beta-glucan for lightweight, layerable hydration in a fragrance-free, alcohol-free base. If you are choosing a toner for reactive skin, see how to choose a toner for sensitive skin.
How to use it
After cleansing, pat a layer into skin. For extra hydration you can repeat in thin layers (the 7-skin idea) — just stop if skin feels overloaded.
FAQ
Is the Supple Preparation Unscented Toner clinically tested?
Yes. In a clinical study at P&K Skin Research Center, led by a university-hospital dermatologist, hydration through the upper 20 layers of the stratum corneum was measured before and after use.
What does “deep hydration to 20 layers” mean?
It means hydration was measured not just at the very surface but through the upper 20 layers of the stratum corneum, where it significantly improved after a single use (p<0.05).
Is it good for sensitive skin?
It is fragrance-free and alcohol-free, non-comedogenic tested and tested for tolerance including on sensitive skin. Patch test first if you are reactive.
Can I layer it?
Yes — thin, repeated layers work well for extra hydration.
Note: figures come from cosmetic clinical/consumer studies measuring the appearance and feel of skin. They are not medical claims; individual results vary, and the product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. Always patch test.
