Does a Caffeine Eye Patch Actually Reduce Puffiness? What a Clinical Study Found
“Caffeine for puffiness” is one of the most repeated lines in eye care — but it is rarely backed by a study on the actual finished product. We put our Blue Caffeine Full Cover Eye Patch through a clinical evaluation. Here is what it looked at, and what it found. Study snapshot Clinical studyn=20P&K Skin Research Centeruniversity-hospital dermatologist ✓Under-eye puffiness — significantly improved after a single use (p<0.05) ✓Under-eye hydration & circulation — improved after one use ✓Fine lines & dark circles — improved over 2–4 weeks ✓Dermatologically tested, including on sensitive skin Cosmetic measures of the skin’s appearance and feel; individual results vary. What we looked at The patch was assessed in a clinical study of 20 participants, conducted at P&K Skin Research Center and led by a university-hospital dermatologist. Researchers measured the eye area instrumentally — before and after a single use, and again over 2–4 weeks — comparing treated skin with untreated skin. What the study found After a single use, the look of under-eye bag puffiness significantly improved versus untreated skin (p<0.05), alongside improvements in the look of under-eye hydration and circulation around the eyes. Over 2–4 weeks, measures for the look of fine lines, crow’s-feet, firmness/density and dark circles around the eyes also improved versus baseline. No adverse reactions were reported during the study. Why full-cover, and why caffeine + niacinamide + peptides Most eye patches are a single crescent strip. Blue Caffeine is a 360° full-cover hydrogel that wraps the entire under-eye and cheekbone zone, so the actives — caffeine (associated with a fresher, less-puffy look), niacinamide and peptides — sit across the whole area. Like every Klairs formula it is fragrance-free, vegan (PETA-certified) and cruelty-free. How to use it Apply to clean skin under the eyes, leave on for 20–30 minutes, then pat in the remaining essence. Chilling the patches beforehand can add to the refreshed feel.
