What we looked at
In a 4-week clinical study of 22 participants, conducted at P&K Skin Research Center and led by a university-hospital dermatology professor, skin was assessed after mild external (chemical) irritation and over four weeks of daily use — measuring the skin barrier, moisture, water loss and comfort.
What the study found
- After external irritation, the skin barrier significantly improved with use, and the improvement persisted 7 days after stopping (p<0.05).
- Over 4 weeks, skin moisture increased and transepidermal water loss decreased, with improvements in the look of roughness and the sensation of itch (all versus baseline).
- Hydration was measured to persist at 24-hour and 100-hour checkpoints.
- In an efficacy questionnaire, 100% of participants rated the soothing/persistence benefit “moderate or above.”
Why an encapsulated-ceramide format
