A Teen’s First Skincare Routine: Simple, Gentle and Enough
Teen skin doesn't need a 10-step routine or strong actives. A few gentle basics, used every day, do most of the work. The three-step routine Cleanse morning and night with a mild cleanser, like the Gentle Black Facial Cleanser. Once a day is fine for drier skin. Moisturize — even oily skin. A light option with no added fragrance, like the Midnight Blue Calming Cream works for skin that gets red easily. Sunscreen every morning. Optional extras A hydrating toner for skin that feels tight — the fragrance-free Supple Preparation Unscented Toner is a gentle first toner. For breakouts, one acne treatment recommended by a doctor or pharmacist — not several at once. What to skip Harsh scrubs and peel pads Strong retinoids or acids unless a doctor suggests them Heavily fragranced products Picking and squeezing (see after picking a pimple) When to see a doctor If breakouts are painful, deep, leave marks, or affect confidence, a doctor or dermatologist can help — acne is very treatable.
