Klairs moisturizers fall into three weights. Light: Midnight Blue Clearing Water Cream and Midnight Blue Calming Cream. Medium: Vitamin Toning Barrier Cream and Blue EGF Intensive Pro Cream. Rich: Maple Energy Infusing Cream, Rich Moist Soothing Cream and Rich Moist Barrier Capsule Cream. The Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask is an overnight layer. In winter, most people move one step richer than in summer, or keep their usual cream and add a richer one at night.

Overnight layer
The Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask is a gel-cream sleeping mask with vitamin E, niacinamide, ceramide NP and adenosine. Use it as the last step on dry nights, two or three times a week, or as a night cream. It contains essential oils, so skip it if you avoid them. More on the difference: sleeping mask vs night cream.
How to choose in four questions
- Does your skin feel tight an hour after moisturizing? Move one step richer.
- Do you get shiny by midday? Stay light in the morning, go richer only at night.
- Do you react to essential oils? Skip Rich Moist Soothing Cream and the Vitamin E Mask. The Barrier Capsule Cream is the rich option without them.
- Do you want a second benefit? Calming-focused: the Midnight Blue creams. Vitamin glow: Vitamin Toning Barrier Cream. Well-aging: Maple or Pro Cream.
What the tests measured
- Midnight Blue Calming Cream: redness on irritated skin fell about 26% after one use (n=21, GSC Anti-aging Lab, report GSCL1-24-0026 ER).
- Rich Moist Soothing Cream: skin moisture was still 82% above baseline 24 hours after one use (n=21, Human Co., report HM-P21-0091).
- Rich Moist Barrier Capsule Cream: over 4 weeks, measures of moisture and water loss improved significantly, including on deliberately irritated skin (n=22, P&K, report PNK-25D15-M6RE).
How much to apply
For most people a pea-sized amount covers the face, and an almond-sized amount covers face and neck. Richer creams spread further than you'd expect, so start small and add a little more only on dry areas. If a cream pills or feels sticky, you're probably using too much or layering it before the step underneath has settled. Lighter creams can be re-applied in the afternoon on dry spots without disturbing makeup much; rich creams are best kept for night.
As a rough guide, a 60 g jar used morning and night lasts about two months and an 80 g jar about two and a half to three months.
A simple winter swap
| In summer you used… | This winter, try… |

| Midnight Blue Calming Cream | Keep it, and add Rich Moist Soothing or Barrier Capsule Cream at night |
| Vitamin Toning Barrier Cream | Keep it in the morning; a richer cream at night |
| A rich cream already | Add the Vitamin E Mask on the driest nights, or a thin layer of an occlusive balm on flaky spots |
